Pipe

A microphone over HTTP, in two terminals

You're pair-debugging with a colleague. They want to hear your voice without joining a meeting platform: they're on the road and the phone hotspot won't survive a Zoom session. You both have terminals.

You: arecord -f S16_LE -r 16000 - | curl -T - https://.../api/v1/pipe/voice. Them: curl https://.../api/v1/pipe/voice | aplay. Audio flows through the pipe in real time. The pipe stores nothing: bytes leave your mic, traverse the wire, hit their speakers. No codec negotiation, no signaling server, no app.

It's lo-fi. There's no echo cancellation, no jitter buffer, no fancy DSP. It's the kind of voice channel an SRE pair-debugs over: stripped down, low overhead, dependable. You ctrl-C when you're done. The path goes back to nothing.

Audio is just bytes. Bytes are just a pipe.
