Containers

The jam rents a box Friday and gives it back Monday

Twelve teams, forty-eight hours, one theme announced at 18:00. The organizer's whole infrastructure job is done by 17:45.

Rent one bare metal server from the marketplace with rental_days: 2: rentals go as short as a day. Create a pool, add every team lead as a user member. Users deploy containers to pool servers; they can't rent, can't change roles, can't touch the bill. Each team gets a container with a public HTTPS URL for their WebSocket game, a display URL for the one who insists on a GUI editor, and a terminal URL for everyone else.

Sunday night the builds are live at their URLs for the judges. Monday the rental ends, and the server, the pool's contents, and the temptation to keep paying for it all stop existing on schedule.

The jam's cleanup step is the rental's end date.
