Long backup finishes, the desk lamp ringtone fires

You kick off a 90-minute pg_dump from a daemon and switch to other work. When the script finishes, its last line is a curl to hoody-notifications: summary: "Backup complete", urgency: normal, body: "412 GB, 87 minutes, /backups/2026-05-05.sql.gz".

A hoody-display tab is open on your second monitor. The notification fires on display :0 with web_notifications=true and the browser's OS-native banner slides down. Your laptop chimes. You glance, you see the file size, you go back to what you were doing.

The reversal: you used to refresh the terminal every ten minutes. Or write a Slack webhook for it. Or buy a SaaS just for this. Now the script's last line is the notification, and the display tab is the speaker.

Stop polling. Start being told.
