The engagement ends; the desk is frozen, not deleted

A management consultant closes a project every six weeks. Each one accumulates a desk: the client's data, the model, the browser logins, the half-finished sensitivity analysis. Closing means archiving, and archiving means files that won't open the same way in a year.

Now each engagement is a container with its own workspace. At sign-off, the consultant takes a snapshot and leaves the container alone. It sits there, idle, sharing disk blocks with every other frozen engagement on the same flat-rate server, costing nothing extra.

Fourteen months later the client calls with a follow-up question. The consultant opens the workspace URL. The model is open at the tab they left it on.

Archiving an engagement used to mean a zip file and hope. Now it means not touching it.
