The renewal reminder you write yourself

The docs are blunt about it: no email reminders exist. A rental runs to rental_end, enters a short hold period, and the only warning the platform sends is an in-app notification roughly 24 hours before the hold ends: after the rental has already expired. Miss it and the server is deprovisioned and the data is gone.

So IT writes the reminder. A container on the ops box carries one daily cron entry. The job calls GET /api/v1/rentals, reads rental_end for every active rental, and for anything inside fourteen days pushes a notification to the on-call phone with the server name, the datacenter, and the date. Thirty days out, it opens a ticket instead.

The reminder costs nothing extra: a cron line in a container you already have: and it says what your change process needs it to say.

The platform tells you once, late. Your cron tells you twice, early.
