You wanted dev environments, not a platform to run

Self-hosting a dev-environment platform makes you its operator before it makes anyone productive: a control-plane server to stand up, a database behind it, provisioner templates to author, upgrade cycles to schedule. Somebody on the team owns that now.

On Hoody, the platform layer is the substrate you rented. A dev environment is a container copied from your golden snapshot: editor, toolchain, and repo already inside, VS Code reachable at the container's URL. The API that creates them, the proxy that routes them, and the auth in front of them came with the box.

The head count assigned to running the environment system: zero. The environments: as many as the server holds.
