Pipe

Send a teammate a database state in one line

A teammate hits a bug you can't reproduce. They need your local DB to see it. Normally: pg_dump, find a file-sharing service, upload, wait, paste link, wait, they download, they import. Eight minutes of nothing.

You skip the file: pg_dump dev | curl -T - https://pipe.containers.hoody.com/api/v1/pipe/dev-snapshot. They run curl https://.../api/v1/pipe/dev-snapshot | psql staging on their machine. The dump streams from your pg_dump straight into their psql. No file is ever written. The pipe waits up to five minutes for them to connect, then routes the bytes through.

Big database? They watch progress on a third URL with ?progress while it runs. Done in the time it took you to write the Slack message explaining the bug.

Database state used to be an attachment. Now it's a path.
