The function has node_modules, and nobody bundled anything

The invoice PDFs your product mails need a rendering library: the heavy kind. Add it to the script's package.json through the package-management API, run the install, and it lands in the script's own local node_modules. A dependency check tells you what's declared, what's missing, and what to install before anything runs.

Function platforms ship code as bundles, so every dependency becomes a build-step problem first and a size problem second, and the fix is always some new packaging ritual.

Here a script's dependencies work the way they did on every server you've ever run: declared in a manifest, installed on disk, imported at runtime.

Dependencies went back to being installed, not shipped.
