60 containers for the price of one

A bare metal box rents for $30 a month. On that box, Hoody runs 60 containers. Each one is a real Linux environment with its own URL, its own filesystem, its own ports. They share the metal underneath but they don't share state.

The trick is that idle containers cost almost nothing. They don't sleep and they don't hibernate: they're just cheap to keep around. Cloned from one base, they share their disk blocks copy-on-write; the shared kernel's page cache loads their identical binaries once; idle, they burn no CPU. Sixty mostly-idle Linux systems cost barely more than one.

This is what makes "a container per branch," "a container per customer," "a container per experiment" actually affordable. You can run 50 dev environments for your team and pay less than two AWS instances. You can give every customer their own isolated sandbox and not feel it.

The economics aren't a discount. They're a different shape.
