ContainersSnapshots

Dev, staging, and prod for the price of one

The three-environment textbook setup is honest engineering. It's also three times the bill. On Heroku that's three apps. On AWS that's three EC2 instances or three Fargate clusters. On Render it's three web services with three databases. The tax for doing it right used to be paying for it three times.

On Hoody, dev, staging, and prod are three containers on one bare metal box. Same code, branched at deploy. Production gets the traffic; staging sits warm; dev wakes up when you push. Snapshots between them mean you can clone prod into staging in seconds when you need a real-data debug session.

One rent. Three URLs. Real isolation between them: separate filesystems, separate processes, separate ports.

The classic three-tier setup stops being a multiplier on your bill.
