The Saturday side project that knew when to interrupt you
You're hacking on a weekend project: a tiny price-tracker for a thing you want to buy when it drops below $200. Five hours of work, max. You're not deploying a Slack bot for it. You're not buying a notification SaaS for one user.
The script runs as a hoody-cron in the project's container. When the price crosses the threshold, the cron fires POST /notify: summary: "Down to $189", body: "Was $245 yesterday", urgency: critical. The display tab is open in your phone browser as a PWA shortcut.
You're cooking when it banners. You buy. The whole loop took an afternoon to write.
The reversal: every personal alerting flow used to need a Slack workspace, an IFTTT account, or some intermediary. Now your one-user side project has the same notification channel a production system would have, on the same box, with no extra account.
Side projects deserve real notifications too.
