Source escrow is a running machine, not a zip at a law firm
The enterprise contract has an escrow clause. If you go out of business, the customer gets the source. Traditionally that means a quarterly zip deposited with an agent nobody has ever opened, and a build that probably doesn't.
You do it differently. Each quarter you snapshot the customer's production container and copy it onto a server in a pool their ops team belongs to. It sits there idle: costing them nothing beyond the box: a complete, runnable copy of the system as deployed: code, config, data, dependencies. Their engineer can start it and click through it on the day it lands.
Escrow verification stops being a legal checkbox and becomes a login.
The escrow stops being a promise that the code exists and becomes a copy that runs.
