The disaster-recovery drill the insurer can watch

The cyber-insurance renewal asks whether you test your recovery plan. Most companies answer with a policy document and a hopeful yes.

You answer with a calendar invite. At 10:00 the underwriter's analyst opens a read-only terminal URL. Your ops lead restores last night's snapshot of the production container onto a second server. Forty seconds later the app answers on the new address. The analyst watches the restore, watches the health check go green, and watches the log tail: all from a browser, no VPN, no account on your systems beyond the one share link.

The drill took eleven minutes, including the part where someone explained what BTRFS is.

The recovery plan stops being a document you attest to and becomes a restore you perform.
