Pipe

The fastest 'send me that file' you've ever typed

A teammate pings: "can you send me the prod dump from yesterday?" The file is 4GB. Slack rejects it. Email rejects it. The shared drive needs a folder share request that goes to IT.

You: curl -T dump.sql https://pipe.containers.hoody.com/api/v1/pipe/dump-yesterday. You paste the URL. Them: curl https://pipe.../api/v1/pipe/dump-yesterday -o dump.sql. The file streams from your disk, through the pipe, onto theirs. Nothing is uploaded to a server. The bytes just move.

The pipe holds the connection up to five minutes for the receiver to show up, so it doesn't matter who runs curl first. You message back: "URL pasted, run that." Twelve seconds later it's on their box.

You didn't make a Drive folder. You didn't ask IT for a share. You typed two commands and forgot it ever happened.

Two curls. No login. No upload bar. Done.
