Containers
The Christmas microsite that idles eleven months
A retail client runs a campaign microsite every December. Every January you tear it down, because a host for a site nobody visits is a host you're paying for. Every November you rebuild it from a drifted repo, an upgraded CMS, and a contact form pointing at a dead endpoint.
On Hoody the microsite is a container. In January you disable its alias and leave it. It sits on the agency's bare metal box with thirty other client properties, burning no CPU, its disk blocks mostly shared with the template it was built from. Eleven months later you update the copy, swap the images, and enable the alias. The form still works because nothing changed.
Twelve seasonal clients, eleven idle months each: on a flat-rate box, that arithmetic has no dollar sign.
Seasonal used to mean rebuild; now it means flipping the alias back on.
